Question 1

What are the current opening hours?

Accepted Answer

The palace is typically open daily from 9:00 to 18:00, with the last entry at 17:00. These hours apply to most days, though Christmas and New Year's Day schedules may differ. Always verify your specific entry time during the checkout process when selecting your date.

Question 2

How do I skip the lines?

Accepted Answer

Standard tickets booked here include skip-the-line access. By purchasing in advance, you bypass the long ticket office queue at St. Mark's Square and proceed directly to the security checkpoint. This can save you over 60 minutes during peak season.

Question 3

Which ticket type should I buy?

Accepted Answer

For a standard visit, Choose the Fast Track Ticket. If you want to see the restricted areas, book the Secret Itineraries tour. For those exploring more of Venice, the St. Marks Square Pass includes the Museo Correr and the National Archaeological Museum.

Question 4

What is the Secret Itineraries tour?

Accepted Answer

This specialized tour grants access to areas usually closed to the public. You will explore the administrative offices, the torture chamber, and the 'Piombi' attic cells, including the cell where Giacomo Casanova famously escaped. It requires a specific ticket and a dedicated guide.

Question 5

Are there combined tickets with St. Mark's Basilica?

Accepted Answer

Yes, bundle tickets are available that include fast-track entry to both the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica. This is the most efficient way to see Venice's two main landmarks in a single morning while saving on individual booking fees.

Question 6

Is the palace accessible for visitors with limited mobility?

Accepted Answer

Most of the palace is accessible via elevators. However, the Secret Itineraries tour and the New Prisons involve narrow stairs and uneven floors that are not wheelchair friendly. If you have mobility concerns, the main museum route is your best option.

Question 7

Is the palace suitable for children?

Accepted Answer

Children find the Armoury and the Bridge of Sighs particularly engaging. Reduced pricing is often available for visitors under 14 and students under 25. Check the specific age requirements on the ticket selection page to choose the correct ticket type.

Question 8

Can I take photos inside?

Accepted Answer

Non-professional photography without a flash is generally permitted in the main halls and the courtyard. However, photography is strictly prohibited in certain specific areas and during the Secret Itineraries tour. Always look for signage in individual rooms to avoid fines.

Question 9

Can I cancel my ticket if my plans change?

Accepted Answer

Refund and rescheduling availability depends on the specific ticket option you choose. Each ticket lists its cancellation policy clearly on the booking page before you finalize payment. Cancellation terms depend on the option and are shown before payment.

Question 10

When is the best time to visit?

Accepted Answer

To avoid the largest crowds, book your entry for 9:00 AM or after 4:00 PM. Tuesday and Wednesday are generally quieter than weekends. Regardless of the day, having a pre-booked time slot is the only way to ensure a fast entry.
